F.E.A.R. has gone gold

VU Games today announced that its first-person shooter, F.E.A.R., has completed development and will hit store shelves around the world October 18. The game was developed by Monolith Productions, the team behind The Matrix Online and the upcoming Condemned: Criminal Origins.

Paranormal meets paranoia in F.E.A.R., a haunting shooter that puts gamers in the combat boots of a new recruit in an elite fighting force. The F.E.A.R. team (First Encounter Assault Recon) goes into an aerospace compound that has been taken over by a deranged lunatic, only to find that he's amassed an army of his own.

VU Games is slowly instilling F.E.A.R. in gamers. Last month, a demo of the game gave players their first look at the spooky action by pitting them against a few of the levels in the single-player campaign. Later this month, the publisher will let gamers fear one another by releasing the game's multiplayer demo.

F.E.A.R. is rated M for Mature and will retail for $49.99. A director's edition of the game will also be available, which includes a behind-the-scenes featurette, a machinima from Rooster Teeth Productions, and more.
