The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer now in stores

Pixar's The Incredibles continued the film studio's string of dominating performances at the box office, pulling in viewers for multiple showings with its mix of family-friendly action and humor. THQ, which struck a deal with Pixar after catching success with a game adaptation of Pixar's previous film, Finding Nemo, didn't wait for Pixar to announce a sequel to The Incredibles to move the series forward.

Today, The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer has arrived in stores for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, PC, DS, and Game Boy Advance. The near-clean sweep of major platforms marks the first time the series has appeared on the DS.

A PSP version was previously announced in development by Pacific Coast Power & Light, but it hasn't yet surfaced. Internal shops Heavy Iron Studios (PS2, Xbox, GameCube, and PC versions) and Helixe (DS and GBA versions) developed the game for THQ.

In the game, players control the beefy Mr. Incredible and the chilly Frozone as they take on The Underminer, who sprung up from the ground in the final moments of the film. Both characters are playable in the game, and a friend can jump in for some cooperative action. Mr. Incredible and Frozone will gain experience and pump up their skills along the way by beating down The Underminer's robotic brigade.

The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer is rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older for all versions except for the GBA one, which is rated E for Everyone. The game's price points are $39.99 for the Xbox, PS2 and GameCube, $29.99 for the DS and GBA, and $19.99 for the PC.
