EA opens Singapore studio

Electronic Arts formalized its Singapore-based operations today with an announcement outlining the preexisting studio's focus. It also named two longtime EA employees to direct its operations. The studio will concentrate on localizing EA products for the pan-Asia region. Already, a polyglot staff from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, and Holland is ensconced in the studio, which is described as the company's "primary localization studio" for the region. Irene Chua, the company's VP of Asian operations, will manage the development end of business in Singapore, while Chris Thompson, VP and GM of EA Southeast Asia, will focus on the studio's business operations. No mention was made as to how the publisher's Shanghai operation, announced more than a year ago, will integrate with operations now ramping up in Singapore.
