Eibeler named Take-Two's CEO

Paul Eibeler, president of Take-Two Interactive Software, has been named to the additional role of chief executive officer, the company announced today. He will replace Richard Roedel, who remains as chairman of Take-Two's board of directors.

Eibeler, 49, has been president of the Grand Theft Auto publisher since April of 2004 and also served as its president from July 2000 to June 2003. From July to October of 2003, he served as president and CEO of Acclaim North America. Eibeler also worked as a consultant to the Xbox launch team.

The announcement is the latest in a string of moves for Take-Two, which this week acquired an exclusive license to create Major League Baseball-based games and last week launched its new 2K Games imprint and nabbed rights to publish Civilization IV and others in that franchise.

"Take-Two is an exciting company with a leading position in the video game industry," Eibeler said. "As CEO, I look forward to continuing to work with our management team to further enhance and expand our business. I also want to thank Rich Roedel for his leadership during an important growth period for our company."
