Front Mission 2 Remake Launches on Modern Platforms

Front Mission 2 is now available with new features and more
by Tit Krajnik on April 30, 2024

Originally released in 1997 as the second installment of the game, Front Mission 2 officially returned on Tuesday, April 30, as a remake. The new release will not only be available on all modern platforms but also introduce key changes and improvements, such as new customization options, quality-of-life changes, and more.

The second installment in the Front Mission series is set in a futuristic world and revolves around warring factions fighting for power by using combat vehicles called Wanzers. The game’s biggest selling point, however, was the intertwined storylines, which revolved around military and political conflicts and personal struggles.

When first released, Front Mission 2 had its fair share of success, and the game has now returned as a remake, originally scheduled to release in September.

When Does the Front Mission 2 Remake Release?

The Front Mission 2 remake was initially announced in 2022 in a short teaser showcasing the game’s improved visuals and graphics, which helped spark interest in the upcoming project. While ForeverEntertainment took nearly two years to deliver the remake, it officially launched on Tuesday, April 30.

Available on Steam, Epic Games, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, as well as Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, the Front Mission 2 remake is now available on all modern platforms with several improvements.

The remake comes with updated mechanics and many modernized features, although, as promised by the developers, it will stay true to the essence of the original game.

Front Mission 2 Remake Improvements and Changes

The Front Mission 2 remake includes many changes and improvements over the original game, including new customization options for Wanzers, comprehensive language support, a free camera mode, modernized visual effects, and a new soundtrack.

However, despite all the improvements, Front Mission 2 remake doesn’t come with hefty system requirements and is playable even on computers with older components. The minimum requirements include:

  • Processor: Intel I5-2300 / AMD A8-5600k
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GeForce GTX 630 / Radeon HD 6570

The remake of Front Mission 2 comes four months after ForeverEntertainment released Front Mission 1 remake and precedes the promised remake of Front Mission 3. The latter doesn’t have a release date announced yet, but until then, longtime fans and newcomers can dive into Front Mission 2 and experience one of the most iconic RPG games on any modern platform.
