When Can You Dive Into WoW: Dragonflight's Dark Heart? Release Date Revealed!

Bridging the gap between Dragonflight and The War Within
by Tit Krajnik on April 22, 2024

On Monday, April 22, Blizzard unveiled the release date of the final World of Warcraft: Dragonflight patch, named Dark Heart. As confirmed, the 10.2.7 patch will introduce a new story, bridging the gap between Dragonflight and The War Within.

As we get closer to the release of World of Warcraft: The War Within expansion, Blizzard is setting the stage for the story that will tie the two expansions together - which the players will experience in just over two weeks. As revealed, the final WoW Dragonflight patch, the Dak Heart, is set to launch in May.

When Does WoW: Dragonflight Dark Heart Launch?

On Monday, Blizzard confirmed that the WoW: Dragonflight Dark Heart patch will launch on May 7, just over a week before the release of the new World of Warcraft Remix: Mists of Pandaria event on May 16.

With a May 7 launch date, The Dark Heart update will go live two weeks after the start of Dragonflight Season 4, on April 23.
Season 4 will re-introduce Dragonflight dungeons to the Mythic+ pool and bring new higher-level gear for players to obtain. In addition, Mythic and Heroic dungeons will be overhauled and have their difficulties and rewards changed.

Released two weeks after the start of Season 4, the Dark Heart will be a part of the fourth season and proceed with one more content update that will tie Dragonflight together with The War Within.

According to the blog post, the Dark Heart patch will give players a chance to play through a new quest storyline featuring Xal'atath Harbinger of the Void, who will play the role of the main antagonist of the War Within expansion.

There is already some information available about the new villain, a void entity once bound to the Blade of the Black Empire. After being freed from the weapon, Xal'atath struck a deal with the Old God N’Zoth during the Battle for Azeroth expansion and now possesses a deceased elven body.

While Blizzard announced the 10.2.7 Dark Heart patch release date, much remains unknown. But as confirmed, there will be at least a new storyline and Draenei and Troll Heritage armor quests to look forward to.
